Review by Kathy Parsons
With Love, Volume 2 contains twelve more of Silvard’s favorite love songs. Nine are solo piano and three are lightly orchestrated. Most of these songs are included in various collections of love songs, and there are no real surprises. The music is intended to be an expression of “God’s heartfelt and healing message of love,” making it kind of hard to critique! I get really tired of some of these songs in the course of teaching piano, but enjoy Silvard’s arrangements of “Time in A Bottle,” Unchained Melody,” and “Misty.” Other titles include “Music of the Night,” “Desperado,” “Just The Way You Are,” “Lara’s Theme from ‘Doctor Zhivago,’” “As Time Goes By,” and “Killing Me Softly.” Silvard’s arrangements are straightforward without a lot of embellishment, and have a charming sincerity. If you like these songs and like light and breezy piano arrangements, you’ll really enjoy this album. It is available from silvard.com.
