The
Notes From Zion songbook is the companion sheet music book to Faith Angelina’s 2019 album by the same name. All twelve piano solos from the recording are included. Faith Angelina is a very young composer still in her early teens, making this music very impressive. None of the pieces are difficult, and much of the left hand is built around repeated patterns that are easy to learn, so most pianists at an intermediate-upper intermediate playing level should have little trouble mastering this music. As a piano teacher, I would think that this music would be very inspirational to teens and ‘tweens and very easy for them to relate to. A variety of emotions and experiences are expressed in the music, making it a very interesting and fun-to-play songbook.
The book is spiral-bound with full-color reproductions of the CD cover’s artwork on the front and back covers. The transcriptions are clear, well-spaced and easy to read. Pedal markings, phrasing, and metronome settings are all indicated, as are helpful playing instructions and dynamics. There aren’t many chords and no reaches of more than an octave, so pianists with smaller hands will have no troubles in that regard. I can easily recommend this songbook to pianists of all ages!
