“Lakeside Pastels” is the companion sheet music for Suzanne Herman’s single released near the end of 2025. Inspired by experiencing a sunset from the shoreline of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park, the sheet music is a graceful and flowing delight to play. Suzanne did the transcription herself and then I proofed it, so the music is as close to the recording as possible. The sheet music is well laid-out and easy to read. Fingering and phrasing are clear, and there are no reaches of more than an octave which makes it easier for pianists and piano students with smaller hands to master the music. The piece is in the key of Bb major (2 flats in the key signature) and the sheet music is 5 1/2 pages. Since the tempo is fairly slow, I would put the sheet music at an intermediate/upper-intermediate playing level for pianists and piano students of any age.
