I don't know when I've had so much fun reading a book - probably Robin Goldsby's Waltz of the Asparagus People (2011). Robin's ability to find the humor in all kinds of situations and her astute observations of life and the people who populate it make this a warm-hearted and compelling read whether you are a professional musician or know nothing about music. I have loved all of her books, but Piano Girl Playbook is my favorite.
