Wings III - Ambient Bliss is the twenty-fourth album from 2002 over the course of their thirty-four year career (so far!!!). The Wings series began in 1992 with the band’s first album, Wings. The second album in the series was released in 2007 - Wings II - Return to Freedom. Quoting Pamela Copus: “For us, the idea of wings symbolized so many things. Wings can lift you up. They can transport you to a different place. They can cradle you upon billowing currents of air….Now we present to you ‘Wings III - Ambient Bliss.’ This collection of 10 new original songs seeks to create a place of serenity and peaceful dreams. This is truly music made by human hands and hearts - not A.I.”

To say that this album is peaceful and serene is a huge understatement. It floats freely on blissful waves of sound, calming the nerves as it soothes the soul. I would think it would also be of great help to those with trouble sleeping. I’m having trouble staying awake as I write this review - and that is nothing but a sincere and positive compliment! I can’t help but think about what a different world we would be living in if everyone let this music work its magic in their own lives.

It is interesting to note that Wings III - Ambient Bliss is dedicated to Cindy Grundsten, the artist who created the artwork for the covers of six of 2002’s albums. In her memory, Cindy’s daughter gave 2002 permission to use one of her mother’s works on this album, which is also dedicated to her. There is also a digital booklet that goes with the album with beautiful nature photographs by Sarah and Pamela Copus and poetic thoughts that give insight into each piece. (I assume there is a physical booklet enclosed in the CD version of the album.)

2002 was originally a duo with Pamela and Randy Copus, and they became a trio in about 2014 when they welcomed their daughter, Sarah, to the group. In 2021, 2002 was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by One World Music Radio. They now have over 1.7 BILLION streams!
