Review by Kathy Parsons
SelfMusic is a 13-movement instrumental work by Anaya Music that was created to achieve inner peace. More ambient than melodic, Anaya Music (Tania Mara Botelho) composed all of the music and played all of the instruments on the album. Subtitled "Meeting Your Inner Peace," the album was designed for meditation purposes so that when you listen to each movement, "the feeling of going inside increases until you have found your inner peace." (quoting Anaya Music). Anaya Music also produced the album, which was edited and mixed by Pedro Tavares and Anaya Music. Soothing and ethereal, SelfMusic provides 44 minutes of peaceful escape from the chaos and uncertainty of our present world.

The individual tracks on SelfMusic are titled "Movement 1-13," leaving it to the listener to interpret (or not) what the music is "about." Strings, keyboards, wordless vocals and a variety of other instrumental sounds transport the listener to a place of sublime peace - much like floating on a puffy white cloud, enveloped by warm sunshine. It's a very nice place to go when life's stresses get to be too much!

A native of Brazil, Anaya Music learned to play the piano and guitar as a child and later studied at Conservatorio Carlos Gomez. Also a publisher and filmmaker, her prolific output of albums, singles and films have won a multitude of awards. She also holds a Post-Doctorate degree in Leadership and a PhD in Information Technologies. Her unique international resume includes traveling the world as a performer of Brazilian pop music and working for the University of Brazilia and the United Nations as an Information Systems Specialist. She blends her expertise in computer science with a deep understanding of universal spirituality, creating a distinct musical voice all her own.

Quoting her bio on AnayaMusic.com: "When she’s composing, Anaya calls on her spiritual side, and 'retires' from this world to enter a realm of musical vibration, starting with a 32-minute meditation session. Yet when production begins, she draws on her tech background as a Digital Information Specialist, analyzing the most effective sounds to convey her provocative spiritual concepts. Reflecting on her personal inspiration and creative process, Anaya says, 'I make music to fulfill a collective yearning shared by humanity for harmony, unity and balance. The magic of music and the profound feelings of love are a divine instrument of perfection to give re-birth to our soul. Music is the sound of Light. Our best instrument is the universal harmony of being.'”

SelfMusic is a brief, healing vacation for the soul and is available from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes, and streaming sites such as Spotify.
