Review by Kathy Parsons
"Desert Heat" is a fascinating single from Exotic Dimensions, a multi-cultural musical project founded by Japanese producer/ composer/ orchestrator/ and arranger Shumile. The project creates music that combines a variety of musical styles and genres with traditional music from around the world. With elements of pop, electronic, classical and film score music, "Desert Heat" includes traditional instrumentalists and singers from fourteen different countries. It is Shumile's hope that people will appreciate and value other cultures by listening to music from around the globe.

"Desert Heat" has a very distinctive Middle Eastern flavor with traditional instruments that include oud, qanun, riq, darbuka and nay combined with more western woodwinds, horns and strings. The lyrics are sung in English by Patrick Tabet with backing vocals by Mahya Hamedi, and tell the story of a man searching the desert for his lost love. Passion and longing are expressed in the universal language of music - the language we can all understand, with and without words!

Shumile was born in Japan and is based in the US. She graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a major in Film Scoring. She is also a programmer, pianist, singer, conductor, recording and editing engineer, video director, and script writer, and has won many awards for her work.

The single is available from Amazon, Apple/iTunes, and streaming sites such as YouTube and Spotify. Check it out!
