"Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying" is a new instrumental single from Australian composer/multi-instrumentalist Jim Ottaway, and is his arrangement of the classic 1964 song by the British band, Gerry and The Pacemakers. It is also the second cover song Jim has released, and is a wonderful update to a 60-year-old hit song (60 years? really?). I was a pre-teen when this song came out the first time, and it is indelibly etched into my "favorite song" memories from that era! The lead instrument in Jim's arrangement is a "twangy" electric guitar sound backed by drums, percussion, strings, and electric bass guitar. If you aren't familiar with the original recording, there are YouTube videos as well as easy access to the recording online. It's a great song, and Jim's arrangement and recording capture and update its spirit beautifully.
"Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying" is available from Amazon, Bandcamp, Spotify, Deezer, Tidal and Apple Music/iTunes. Both thumbs up for this one!
