Review by Kathy Parsons
"Blossom" is a beautiful collaborative single by Joss Jaffe and Jim "Kimo" West and features a unique combination of instruments that includes Indian tablas, Hawaiian percussion, African Ngoni (harp), and custom and rare guitars. A Los Angeles-based composer and multi-instrumentalist, Joss Jaffe's 2019 album, Meditation Music, debuted at #3 on the Billboard New Age Chart. His music is rooted in his desire to unite people through spirit, love, joy, community and consciousness, and those lofty goals are very apparent in the joyful "Blossom." Jim "Kimo" West won the 2021 Grammy Award for Best New Age Album for his slack-key guitar More Guitar Stories and has been the lead guitarist for "Weird" Al Yankovic for more than 40 years. On "Blossom," West plays guitars and Jaffe plays ngoni, tabla, percussion and shakers - an innovative combination that works seamlessly. I'm sure this single will be categorized as "new age," but it also hints a jazz, world, Hawaiian and Indian genres. Its unique style feels like warm sunshine by a sparkling ocean or lake on a day when you have absolutely no deadlines or obligations. After listening to "Blossom" several times in a row, I think my blood pressure has gone down at least 20 points! Ahhhhhhhh.... What a refreshing 5 1/2 minutes!

"Blossom" is available from Bandcamp, Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes and streaming sites such as Spotify.
