Review by Kathy Parsons
"She's So Sweet" is an intriguing single from trumpeter/composer Keith Fiala. There are strong jazz influences as well as catchy pop rhythms, but it's obviously not a piece that easily fits into a specific category - something I always really appreciate! One of the features that make the piece unique is a sitar solo by Ken Berry - and it fits in perfectly! Other instrumentation includes keyboard, bass, hand claps and percussion in a light-hearted and energetic expression of fun and joy (my interpretation). Quoting Keith Fiala:

“'She’s So Sweet' began life with experimenting with different textures and a very simple progression (chord progression). My mentors emphasized to me that the music that we create should take the listener on a journey. The 'musical curveball' kicks in with the sitar solo by my buddy Ken Berry. We were playing in a big band together and he was using this particular sound on a tune and I fell in love with that sound all over again. Welcome to the ride… she’s sweet!"

"She's So Sweet" is part of Keith Fiala's first album of all-original music, New Beginnings, dropping on May 17, 2024. The single is available from Amazon and Apple Music/iTunes as well as many streaming sites including Spotify. Don't miss it!
