I am re-posting my review of Marc Enfroy’s Threads Across Time because as of September 18, 2026, the album will be available on all of the streaming platforms minus the two bonus tracks from the Collector’s Edition. Those details are in the last paragraph below.

It’s been a few (seven?) years since we’ve had new music from “cinematic” pianist/composer Marc Enfroy, but his new Threads Across Time is well-worth the wait! Marc describes the album like this:

“Threads Across Time is a collection of piano and orchestral music about the bonds that hold across years and distance — a child, a grandchild, someone you miss. Music for memories, for the people we carry inside, and for the quiet hours when something gentle is the only thing that fits. Written for my children and grandchildren — and for anyone who hopes a little of themselves lives on in the people they love.”

The twelve tracks on the album are some of the most personal music Marc has composed. All of his albums have had a story or an event that inspired them - and I have thoroughly enjoyed them all - but this one is more about the passage of time, how our perspectives change as we get older, and how we hope to be remembered when we’re gone. Marc composed all of the music on the album and plays the piano and keyboards. Joni Fuller joins Marc on violin, viola and cello, and by “stacking” her parts, it sounds like a full string section. Flutist Gina Luciani also plays on the album with a warmth and honesty that are vitally important to the music.

Threads Across Time begins with “Watching You Grow,” a warm and very tender piece inspired by watching Marc’s grandchildren playing and exploring and the thoughts of the past and future that come with that experience. “A Good Heart: Echoes” is a new arrangement of “A Good Heart,” a piece that was on Marc’s 2011 album, Unconditional. More orchestration, real strings and a few other changes give the piece new life and a fresh perspective. “A Mother’s Love” is a beautiful piece for piano, cello and viola. It begins as a simple but heartfelt piano solo before the strings enter with their soulful melodies. “Until I’m With You Again” is about missing someone dear as well as looking forward to being with them again. Deeply heartfelt, the emotions expressed are honest and passionate. “First Breath” beautifully describes the varied emotions that come with becoming a new parent. A mix of delicate tenderness and powerful feelings of love and wonder make this one a favorite! Marc considers “An Unbroken Thread” to be the emotional centerpiece of the album and it is about the legacy that carries on after we’re gone - like an unbroken thread. “The Thread Goes On” is the last track on this version of the album and imagines future generations of Marc’s family finding this album and reading the notes about it, feeling a connection to the past.

Threads Across Time has been available from Marc’s website for a few months, but it will be released on all streaming platforms on September 18, 2026. It is available for purchase as a download through stores such as Amazon and the iTunes Store, minus two gorgeous bonus tracks available only through Marc’s website. The Collector’s Edition (Digital) is available as a download on Marc’s site and includes the complete album with both bonus tracks, a downloadable 32-page “Composer Notes” booklet featuring the stories and artwork behind each piece, and a personal note from Marc.  A signed CD is also available and includes the two bonus tracks and the downloadable booklet.

This is a very special album, and I highly recommend it!
