"The Heart of Mount Seleya" is the fifth single from Peter Calandra's upcoming (May 16, 2025) piano album, Night Mist. So far, all of the singles have been outstanding, so I'm really looking forward to getting into the whole album! I wasn't sure where Mount Seleya is located, so I looked it up and it's a sacred mountain on Vulcan that is mentioned a couple of times in Star Trek III. Peter's piano solo is spare, mysterious and very beautiful. There is just enough pedal or reverb to give the recording a slightly other-worldly feeling that adds to the intrigue of the music. As the piece unfolds, it becomes somewhat faster and more complex, closing with a sparkling flurry of notes to the end. Love it!
