Review by Kathy Parsons
For their birthdays (May 31st) this year, Shambhu and Jeff Oster are gifting the world with a collaborative single called "Montauk to Mexico." Named for the two parts of the world where the music was recorded (Shambhu in his home studio on Long Island in New York and Jeff in San Pancho, Mexico), the idea for the piece was to create the feeling of a spontaneous street jam, which is how the two artists met - on a ferry boat running from San Francisco to Alameda, CA along with flutist Ann Licater - in 2009. They have collaborated on many projects since then, but this one seems extra-special. The piece is warm and relaxed and features Shambhu's soulful acoustic guitar and Jeff's elegant flugelhorn along with Shambhu's bass and synths. The single was mixed and mastered in DOLBY Atmos by Todd Boston at Spatial Sound Studios in Portland OR. It's a gorgeous collaboration and I hope there will be others!

"Montauk to Mexico" is available from Amazon, Bandcamp, Apple Music/iTunes and streaming platforms including Spotify. Bravo and Happy Birthday to Shambhu and Jeff Oster!
