"Openings" is a beautifully "chill" electric guitar duet that features Shambhu and Leo Steinriede, a young jazz guitarist who has been making a name for himself for his playing as well as for his jazz compositions and arranging. Composed and recorded as a collaboration, "Openings" is Leo's first foray into new age music. It is interesting to note that both artists are alumni of the Manhattan School of Music. Shambhu studied jazz arranging with Leo online during the pandemic while creating his Life Passage album, but this is the first time they have created new music together. Electric guitars are often equated with hard rock and jazz, but this duo has created a sound that is silky-smooth and heartfelt, capable of soothing away any stress you might be experiencing. Shambhu added some bass and pads to the mix, but this is mostly an electric guitar duet. "Openings" will be included on Shambhu's upcoming album, Reflections, which is set for release in September 2024. I can't wait!
