Review by Kathy Parsons
"Autumn Ayre" is the sheet music for the solo piano single by David Lanz, one of my all-time favorite pianist/composers. Co-composed with Kristin Amarie, the piece has a warm, dreamy feeling that makes it very easy to play expressively. Transcribed by John Zechiel and proofed by me, the sheet music is as close to the recording as possible and should be very accessible to pianists at an upper-intermediate and above playing level. There are no reaches of more than an octave, and there are several places where the right hand crosses over the left into the deep bass of the piano - something my piano students always loved in David’s sheet music!
The layout of the sheet music is very roomy and well-spaced. Pedal markings are indicated, as is the metronome setting (for those who use one!). The piece is in the key of F major (1 flat) and is seven pages. It’s a beautiful piece of music, and I can enthusiastically recommend it to pianists and piano students of all ages. It is available now on David’s Shopify page and will be available on SheetMusicPlus.com and SheetMusicDirect.com soon. Very highly recommended!
