Review by Kathy Parsons
"Winter Sonata" was the first single released from David Lanz's 2024 solo piano album, Valentine Hill, and this is the sheet music for that piece. Quoting my review of the single: "'Winter Sonata' has everything David's fans love about his music - it's beautifully expressive, flowing, and from the heart. It's a wonderful piece for any time of the year, but listening to it brings images of the silent grace of snow falling and light dancing on its surface as it lands on the ground." Smooth, gently-flowing and on the melancholy side, it's a very satisfying piece of music to play. Even better, it's not difficult at all, making it appropriate for pianists at an intermediate playing level, and a piece more advanced pianists should be able to just pick up and play without a lot of practice. It is in the key of A minor (0 sharps or flats), five pages, well-spaced and easy to read. "Winter Sonata" can be downloaded from SheetMusicPlus.com and SheetMusicDirect.com. Highly recommended!
