Review by Kathy Parsons
The Key of Dreams eBook is the companion sheet music collection to Galya’s 2011 solo piano album by the same name. All twelve pieces from the recording are included. Galya is a very accomplished pianist, so some of this music is more complex than that of other composers in the so-called new age genre such as David Nevue, David Lanz and Jim Brickman, but most pianists at an early advanced and higher playing level should be able to master these pieces with some time and practice. Here is a quote from my review of the recording:

(Galya’s) stunning mastery of the piano gives her the freedom to express anything she wants with effortless grace and an elegant touch. The twelve piano solos on the album convey a wide range of emotions and experiences that are easy to relate to despite the complexity of the music. This music is definitely not intended for creating an atmospheric background - it needs and deserves to be listened to, savored, and gotten lost in.

Those are good guidelines for playing Galya’s music! The majority of the pieces appear to be in the key of C or A minor with accidentals marked. These keys are more complex than that, but notating them this way certainly makes it much easier for the pianist to play. Most of the reaches are of an octave or less, although there are wider jumps in places. Most of the rhythms are very straightforward. The notation is clear and roomy with dynamics and metronome settings clearly marked. The sheet music is available for download either as a book or individual pieces from galya.fr. Recommended!
