If I Could Say It Now: Original Piano Solos, Volume 3 is the companion sheet music book to Lesley Spencer’s 2012 CD, If I Could Say It Now. All twenty-one pieces from the CD are included. What a treasure chest of great music this book is! Some of the pieces are on the dark side, some are very light and playful, some are flowing and beautiful - something for every pianist and any mood! Lesley Spencer is one of my favorite composers, and this collection really shows off her varied composing and playing styles. Meticulously transcribed by Rebecca Oswald and proofed by me, these pieces are as close to the way they are played on the recording as possible. Notation is clear and easy to read, dynamics and pedaling are thoroughly marked, metronome settings are indicated, the paper stock is a nice weight for durability and easy page turns, AND the book is spiral bound (a VERY big plus!!!).

A few of these pieces are a bit challenging, with the key of Gb (six flats) popping up a few times and a few tricky timing passages, but pianists at an early-advanced playing level should have no trouble mastering all of this music. The pieces are a LOT of fun to play and many of them are very expressive, giving plenty of incentive to take the time to learn the music. Some of my own favorites include “Russian Waltz,” “A Night In Paris,” “Une Valse Francaise,” “Daydreams,” and “Jekyll & Hyde Waltz.” Great stuff! This and Lesley Spencer’s two other sheet music books are available from lesleyspencer.com. Very highly recommended!
