Refuge: Piano Sheet Music is the companion sheet music book for Nate Hance's 2022 solo piano recording, Refuge. One of the things that is different about this book is that there are two versions of each of the ten pieces from the album - the more advanced versions that Nate played on the recording and intermediate versions of each. There isn't a huge difference between the two versions of most of the pieces - most are in the same key(s) and most are the same number of pages - but the intermediate versions don't have as many chords or they are shortened a bit, there is more fingering in the intermediate versions, some of the faster passages are simplified a bit, etc., but the easier versions still sound very close to the originals. I would think that once a pianist has mastered the intermediate version of a piece, it would be much easier to go over and learn the more advanced original. Having both versions in one book is also very handy for teaching purposes.

Refuge sheet music is available in a spiral-bound book, a PDF download, and individual pieces from Nate's website. The printed books include an "About the Songs" page, and the music is printed on a medium-weight paper stock that should be very durable. The scores are very well-spaced and easy to read. They include chord charts, pedaling, and metronome settings. It's a very enjoyable book to play and I look forward to returning to it often!
