Review by Kathy Parsons
The Weary World Rejoices is the companion sheet music book for Pam Asberry's 2022 solo piano album by the same name. All twelve pieces (thirteen if you count the medley!) are included, transcribed note-for-note by Pam and proof-read by me. Making the songbook even more festive are the enlargements of the album artwork by Matt Strieby of New Leaf Designs, that grace the front and back covers of the songbook. Pam arranged the mostly familiar Christmas songs in a soothing, thoughtful style that is very suitable for Christmas programs or recitals, gatherings of friends and family, and/or just personal enjoyment! Pam is a long-time piano teacher and adjudicator, and her sheet music is always a great choice for teaching material for students of any age. I really like Pam's quote about the music:

"It has been said that what unites us is greater than what divides us, and I believe this to be true, that even in these tumultuous times harmony and peace are possible. But we must learn to focus on the beauty and uniqueness of others rather than their faults or differences, and to live in love instead of in judgment. It is my sincere wish that this music will bring comfort and joy to all who listen, at Christmas time and always."

The songbook includes information about Pam and notes about the music. Available as printed books and PDF downloads, the printed books are spiral-bound, assuring easier page turns and that the book will stay open on the piano. The notation is clear, well-spaced and easy to read. Most of the arrangements are at an upper-intermediate/ early-advanced playing level. There are no reaches of more than an octave and none of the pieces are in difficult key signatures. It's a really nice collection sure to bring many years of playing enjoyment!

The songbook (both physical books and downloads) is available from Bandcamp and Pam's website. Individual songs are available from Pam's site and SheetMusicPlus.com.
