We don’t usually double-up on reviews on MainlyPiano.com, but this song is just too important. Bruce Springsteen’s passionate and angry new single, “Streets of Minneapolis” is a powerful protest song whose lyrics describe the massive presence of federal agents in Minneapolis and the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti earlier this year. In case you haven’t read or heard about it yet, Bruce wrote the song on January 24th, 2026, recorded it on the 25th, and released it on Columbia Records on the 28th. In a matter of days, it became the #1 downloaded song on iTunes in twenty-one countries. The single is, of course, available to download and stream, but I strongly suggest going to Bruce’s website and watching the
Lyric Video for the full impact of the song. On
YouTube, there is also a live video of Bruce performing the song in Minneapolis on January 30th - the first live performance of the song - and the lyric video follows that, too.
I’ve always been aware of the amazing power of music, and this incredible song proves it once again. Thank you, Bruce Springsteen!
