Review by Kathy Parsons
Heart to Heart is Cory Reese’s second of three albums to date. The music is lovely, but I just can’t get past the flat, dull sound of the keyboard and the canned strings. The melodies of the song are heartfelt and played with as much expression as you can get out of an electronic piano, but the left hand plays mostly broken chords and safe, predictable patterns. A real piano and some work on adding variety to the left hand accompaniment would do wonders. As I say, the melodies are very nice and it’s obvious that passion and love went into their creation, but the instrument doesn’t do them justice. Cory Reese’s albums are available from coryreese.com.
