Review by Kathy Parsons
Love Notes is a two-disc solo piano collection of original commissioned love songs by Danny Wright. With more than forty albums to his credit, Wright has touched and healed a lot of hearts along the way, so it is no surprise that people turn to him to create very special and personal gifts for loved ones. This collection presents some of the very best of those works. To complete each commission, Wright requests a photo of the subject and a paragraph that describes the person, and then he creates a one-of-a kind piece of music inspired by what he has seen and heard. Each piece is a gem unto itself, and with the common themes of love and passion, the set exudes warmth, tenderness, and, most importantly, love. The two CDs are comprised of a total of twenty tracks, all solo piano. With a combined total of 104 minutes of music, the discs would make wonderful background music for a romantic dinner, reading, driving, daydreaming, and any other activity that would be enhanced by warm, melodic piano music. It is also very satisfying and relaxing for listening with full attention (does anyone do that anymore?).

Danny Wright is one of the most popular and best-loved contemporary pianists in the world, and his Love Notes gives a very good indication of why. He is also an internationally-registered Steinway Artist and appears regularly in concert in Las Vegas. Classically-trained from an early age and into college, Wright is known for his arrangements of Broadway show tunes and movie themes, which are often flashy and demonstrate Wright’s virtuosity. His original music tends to be much more subdued and flowing and, I think, even more beautiful, as it comes from a spiritual place deep within. If you are new to Wright’s original compositions, this is a great place to start!

A treat for the ears, Love Notes is available from dannywrightpiano.com, Amazon, and iTunes. Recommended!
