Review by Kathy Parsons
"Changing States" is the perfect title for David Glass' new single! With its smooth transitions from one music genre to another, it covers a lot of musical territory in just over five minutes. A highly sought-after piano teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area, David is also widely known for his inventive improvised duets with fellow pianist Justin Levitt, both live and on video. David has released an album of classical piano solos as well as an album and singles of his own compositions. He is currently working on an album of improvised duets with longtime friend, Francis Martineau.

"Changing States" begins very slowly and somberly - almost mournfully - in a very open, sparse piano style. The second theme picks up the tempo a bit, adding more passion and spirit as it evolves. At about the half-way point in the piece, the tempo has become much faster and more exciting, becoming full-tilt jazzy and bluesy. Really? Yep, and it works seamlessly, demonstrating David's musical versatility and spirit - and perhaps a bit of his sense of humor as well! The music then gradually quiets and minimizes as it slowly fades out to a whisper.

"Changing States" is available to stream on Apple Music, YouTube, Spotify and Pandora. Be sure to check this one out!
