"II Addio - The Farewell" is a gorgeous single from pianist/keyboardist/composer David Wahler, one of my favorite artists for quite a few years now. Composed in a neo-classical style for cello, keyboards and piano, David describes the piece: "'Il Addio - The Farewell' is a song of plaintive emotions, centering on the goodbyes in life: the dissolution of a relationship, the loss of a loved one, the metaphysical end of this worldly plane and voyage to the astral."

In case anyone wonders when David started playing the cello so beautifully - or at all! - he explains: "I wanted a beautiful cello sound after I heard the cellist Tina Guo’s cello work on the latest Top Gun film. I did some digging and discovered that Miss Guo has published a digital library of her cello. I was skeptical as I’ve always been an advocate of 'live performances'. Yet, after playing around with her extensive software I became excited that I could digitally reproduce the sound that I desired."

Mostly a cello and piano duet with supporting orchestration, the music expresses deep emotion and loss while tugging at the heartstrings and soothing the soul. It's another wonderful piece of music from David Wahler and is available from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes, and streaming sites including Spotify. Highly recommended!
