“Mystic Space: Ambient Piano,” a single by James Michael Stevens, is different from many of his solo piano releases in that it was composed in an ambient, minimalist style with light ethereal orchestration (bells, strings, reverb and other effects) in addition to the piano. Somewhat darker and more mysterious than many of his compositions,”Mystic Space” adds a new facet to Stevens’ vast repertoire of original music. The repeated pattern on the piano gives the piece a hypnotic quality that is transporting in a dreamy, comfortable way. I really like this piece and look forward to more music from Stevens in an ambient style.
