Review by Kathy Parsons
"Anthem" is a beautiful solo piano single composed by Jeffrey Baker, performed by Frank Martin, and produced by Shambhu (Vineberg). The piece was originally composed for the daughter of Baker's teacher and mentor, Maria Cisyk, and became part of a collection of children's pieces for piano that caught the attention of multi-instrumentalist and producer, Shambhu; Frank Martin arranged and performed the piece for the recording. Although "Anthem" doesn't seem particularly difficult to play, it overflows with feeling and expression (much more important than an overabundance of notes!). Warm and soulful, it's a wonderful introduction (for me, anyway!) to Jeffrey Baker's music, and I look forward to hearing more of it soon!

Based in New York, Jeffrey Baker is a composer, author and piano technician who has worked behind the scenes on hundreds of recordings as well as for performances at venues that include Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. He recently published a book called Secrets of A Celebrity Piano Tuner, which chronicles his forty-plus year career.

"Anthem" is available on Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes and many streaming platforms including Spotify. Highly recommended!
