Review by Kathy Parsons
“On the Rocks” is a new smooth jazz single from master-pianist/composer Michael Dulin. Originally titled “Promise Me,” Michael was unable to find cover artwork that resonated with that title. His favorite photo from a recent photo shoot was of him sitting “on the rocks” by a lake. Bingo! A title with a double-meaning that is both upbeat and fun! Cheers all around!

“On the Rocks” features Michael Dulin on piano and synth bass along with smooth jazz standouts Chase Baird on tenor sax and James ‘PJ’ Spraggins laying down a cool R&B groove on drums. Smooth, easy-going and very light-hearted, it’s sure to bring a smile and is one of those tracks that feels so good that hitting the “repeat” button at the end seems like the only natural thing to do!

One of the most accomplished and versatile musicians on the planet, Michael Dulin is a graduate of Juilliard and performed in classical competitions at an international level. He has also toured with The Temptations, recorded with Jon Anderson of Yes fame, and played for many years with big bands in the South. He can literally do anything he chooses at the piano and musical magic often flows from those fingers. I’ve loved Michael’s music since I started reviewing it in 2003 and still do!

“On the Rocks” will be released on July 10, 2026 and will be available to stream and download from Amazon and Apple Music/iTunes as well as on many streaming platforms including Spotify and Pandora. It can be pre-ordered on Michael's website. Don’t miss this one!!!
