Review by Kathy Parsons
“We Three Kings” is Michael Dulin’s smooth-jazz arrangement of the classic Christmas carol and a follow-up to his previous smooth-jazz single, “Slow Burn,” which was released a few months ago. A classically-trained pianist from a very early age, Michael is an artist who can do just about anything he wants to do at the piano and keyboards and do it incredibly well. His albums and singles include original compositions, classical repertoire, jazz, hymns, Christmas and more! I’ve been a huge fan since I reviewed his first album of original compositions in 2003, and that hasn’t wavered a bit!.
“We Three Kings” features Michael Dulin on piano and keyboards along with Alison Prestwood on bass and Grey Morrow on drums. The piano stays in lead for the whole piece, playing the melody as well as some laid-back grooves and flashy finger-work. Michael also added some synth strings and voices, but it’s the three “live” musicians that really make the piece soar and come alive! It’s a great arrangement and I highly recommend it!
“We Three Kings” is available to stream and download from Amazon and Apple Music/iTunes as well as on many streaming platforms including Spotify and Pandora. Don’t miss it!
