Review by Kathy Parsons
“Daybreak” is a solo piano single from composer/pianist Nathan LaMotte. This joyful and lighthearted piece combines LaMotte’s original melodies with short passages from Edvard Grieg’s “Morning Mood” (from Pier Gynt) to create a burst of musical sunshine - a welcome bright spot in the midst of the difficulties and uncertainties that have become such a big part of 2020.

LaMotte started playing the piano at the age of six with a focus on classical music. When he discovered The Piano Guys sometime later, he was inspired to start writing his own music by combining classical influences with a contemporary sound. He has also arranged and recorded hymns and medleys that include classical themes. Nathan released his first album, 7, in 2018 (I reviewed and really liked it!) and has also released a few other singles.

Nathan Lamotte is an exceptionally promising young composer, and I think we’ll be hearing a lot more from him in the near-future! “Daybreak” is available from https://song-wave.com, Amazon, Apple/iTunes and Spotify.
