Review by Kathy Parsons
"Moon Over Manhattan" is a beautiful ensemble jazz single by Pete Calandra and Straight Up, a project created as an outlet for Peter Calandra's new music that is separate from his New Age/ Ambient/ Film Score output. Straight Up was the name of a group Pete was a part of one summer between semesters of undergraduate school in New York. They played mostly Contemporary Jazz and Reggae, and the music Pete is creating for this project is an updated version of those styles. "Moon Over Manhattan" features piano, bass and electric guitars, synths, drums and percussion. As far as I know, Pete plays all of the instruments on this piece. The video for "Moon Over Manhattan" was created in 2019 and is presented on YouTube as an "encore performance." I can hear some subtle differences between the video and single, but both are outstanding! Both cool and breezy and vibrant and alive, it's a great addition to the growing set of Pete Calandra and Straight Up's singles!

"Moon Over Manhattan" is available from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes, Spotify and other streaming sites. Highly recommended!
