Review by Kathy Parsons
"The Beginning" is the second in a series of solo piano singles by Peter Calandra, a multiple award-winning New York-based composer/pianist/keyboardist who also happens to be one of my favorites. It should come as no surprise that after scoring more than 70 films and writing more than 2000 compositions for television, Calandra's music has a very colorful, visual quality. He has also played keyboards (sometimes first chair) for some of Broadway's biggest musical productions, so Peter has been immersed in just about every genre of music for most of his life. His original music is often difficult to categorize, and I always find that to be a very good thing. Quoting Peter: "I don't try to define anything because I find that, as a creative person, when you put something in a box, you limit the creative flow." Amen!

The cover artwork for "The Beginning" is of a peaceful morning sunrise by the ocean and perfectly describes the music. Quiet pastel colors flow from the piano to welcome a new day and soothe the spirit (any time of day!).

The first two singles from this series are truly exceptional! A new single will be released every two weeks. I plan to review them all, so be sure to check back to see what's new! "The Beginning" is available from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes and streaming sites like Spotify. Very highly recommended!
