David Lanz’s Carousel Deluxe songbook is the companion sheet music for the “Deluxe” version of David’s 2026 solo piano album with the same title (the “official” version of Carousel is the same except it doesn’t include “Beyond Silver Shores” or “Treasure Chest” from David’s three-part suite, “A Pirate’s Tale”). The pieces were expertly transcribed by John Zechiel and I proof-read the scores, so they are as close a match to the recordings as is possible. For those who have been playing David Lanz’s sheet music over the past three decades or so, the Carousel Deluxe songbook feels a bit like coming home! I taught David’s music to my piano students for many, many years, and students of all ages really responded to it. None of the pieces are particularly difficult, so most pianists at an intermediate to an upper-intermediate playing level should find much to love about this music. Some of the thirteen pieces are upbeat and lively while others are more poignant - all are very expressive and I think they’re all fun and expressive to play.

The layout of the sheet music is well-spaced and very easy to read. The places where one hand crosses over the other are clearly marked, and there are no reaches of more than an octave. It’s a very beautiful book loaded with very beautiful music, and I very highly recommend it!
