Review by Kathy Parsons
David Lanz Piano Sheet Music Collection 2000-2022 is a collection of twenty-six piano solos selected by David Lanz from fifteen of his albums released over the past twenty-two years. If you already have all of David's songbooks (as I do!), there are no surprises, but it's always such a pleasure to have a brand new collection with fresh, clean pages and to take a trip down Memory Lane to rediscover some of David's past work. (Several of David's albums released between 2000 and 2013 are not represented, but they are mostly live albums and compilations.) Half of the pieces are from David's solo albums and half are from albums he collaborated on with his wife, Kristin Amarie Lanz. The collection is an interesting sampling of David's versatile composing styles and I really enjoyed my time playing through the book, cover to cover (not in one sitting!).

I have been a big fan of David Lanz's music since he started releasing albums on the Narada label in 1984. I was there for his first concert in San Francisco, and we got to be good friends over the years. I taught a lot of David's music to my piano students, so it was a real thrill when he performed several house concerts and student workshops with us. My point in saying all of that is that this is excellent teaching material that many students of all ages can relate to and enjoy playing. I always found that students achieved much greater success when playing music they loved, and David Lanz's music fits the bill beautifully!

David Lanz Piano Sheet Music Collection 2000-2022 is available from Amazon as a paperback book or in the Kindle edition; it is available as a physical songbook and a download from Hal Leonard. So, if you are a longtime fan of David Lanz's music or a new fan of his more collaborative work, you're sure to find much to enjoy between the covers of this lovely songbook!
