“Summer Ayre” is a beautiful piece of sheet music from David Lanz’s latest (May 2026) album, Carousel. Bright and lively yet gently soothing, it recalls the freedom and fun of the summer months as well as the hypnotic warmth of a summer breeze (especially in the Pacific Northwest!!!). The piece is composed in the key of E Major (4 sharps) and is four pages in length. It was transcribed by John Zechiel and proof-read by me, ensuring that the sheet music is as close a match to the recording as is possible.

The layout of the sheet music is very well-spaced and easy to read. Most of the piece consists of single notes on both hands. There are a few octaves and chords, but not many, and there are no reaches of more than an octave. I would put the sheet music at an intermediate playing level and appropriate for pianists and piano students of all ages. I highly recommend it!
