David Nevue’s
The 30 Most Requested Songs is a comprehensive collection of David’s most-requested music in his concerts. The piano solos come from ten of David’s albums (not counting his anthologies) and span the years 1995-2019. Even though most, if not all, of this sheet music has been available for a long time, either individually or in bundles, master transcriptionist Rebecca Oswald and I went through all of the pieces again as if they were new. Having taught a lot of David’s music to my piano students over the years, I knew there were errors and areas that needed to be cleaned up, so it was with great enthusiasm that we brought all of this music to as close to perfect as we could and as close to the original recordings as possible. Rebecca also reformatted each piece to have a consistent look with David’s more recent sheet music (a number of different transcriptionists put David’s music into sheet music form early on).
So, the bottom line here is that even if you have all of this sheet music, now it is in book form and freshly improved! The book is available form
DavidNevue.com as a spiral-bound book and from Amazon with their own “perfect binding.” David sent me copies of the book with both bindings, and although the non-spiral-bound book is beautiful and the content is exactly the same, it is much more difficult to keep open on the piano. For the $5 difference, I would HIGHLY recommend the spiral-bound book. It will continue to look good after a lot of use, where the Amazon binding will need to be “tamed.” The spiral binding also reduces frustration at page turns. The individual pieces are also downloadable from David’s site.
In addition to the 30 songs, the book includes a note from David Nevue, a table of contents, the song titles sorted by the albums they came from, a forward (by me!) and a “David Nevue Fact Sheet.”A few of the pieces are quite easy and at an early-intermediate playing level. Most are upper-intermediate and a few are early-advanced. The scores include metronome settings, pedaling suggestions, and dynamics. Only a few have any repeated sections. Some include phrasing and most have the musical terms in English. It’s an excellent collection and I very highly recommend it to fans of David’s music and piano teachers for students of all ages.
