Time Dances Past is the companion sheet music book for Lynn Tredeau’s 2025 album by the same name. All thirteen pieces from the album are included and were transcribed to match the recording as closely as possible (I proof-read it!). Overall, the music is very calming and peaceful as well as expressive and interesting to play. Lynn has won many awards for her music over the past ten or eleven years, and this collection makes it obvious why with her heartfelt melodies and graceful rhythms.

Quoting Lynn: "Time Dances Past" evokes the reality of an unstoppable passage of time and the silent ballet of moments slipping through our lives. Each step is a memory and each twirl a season gone by. There is a bittersweet beauty of how life leaves behind footprints made of shadows and light. I share my tales of wonder and melancholy to remind us all that while we cannot hold on to time, we can feel its rhythm every day of our lives.

The songbooks are available both digitally and as spiral-bound books from Lynn Tredeau’s website. The physical books are printed on a substantial bright white paper stock that makes page turns quite easy. I wouldn’t call any of the pieces difficult, and pianists at an intermediate playing level should find them fairly easy to master. There are a few chords, but not many, and there are no reaches of more than an octave. Lynn is a long-time piano teacher (I was, too!), and all of these pieces are very suitable as teaching material (especially for student recitals!) as well as for personal enjoyment. I’ve really enjoyed my time with this songbook and highly recommend it!
