Tahoma: Solo Piano Songbook is the companion sheet music book to Scott D. Davis’ 2013 CD Tahoma Reimagined, the 10th anniversary release honoring his 2003 CD, Tahoma (I know that’s a little redundant, but not all anniversary releases are the exact years! Really!). I’ve loved a lot of these songs since their original release and have been looking forward to the sheet music. This is a beautiful book with the full-color CD cover on front and back - and it’s spiral-bound!!! The music is printed on a bright white, fairly heavy paper stock that should stay looking great through many years of frequent use. The spacing is roomy and the notation is clear and uncluttered for easier reading. Most of these pieces are fairly advanced, and five of the fifteen are in either Gb major or Eb minor (6 flats). The last page of the book is Scott’s explanation for why he loves all those flats and his encouragement to not think of them as more difficult than the key of C. If you say so, Scott! This music is great fun to play, and I’m having a blast learning “Soul of the Storm.” I’m looking forward to getting into “Positive Altitude,” “Swiftwater” and several other songs as well.
