Review by Kathy Parsons
"The Beauty of Sensitivity (HSP)" is a solo piano single by Spanish multi-instrumentalist and composer David Clavijo. Composed in a graceful 3/4 waltz time, David recorded the piece on a felted piano to emphasize the delicacy of the "emotional carousel" Highly Sensitive Persons experience on a daily basis.

Quoting David Clavijo:

"Each note whispers tenderness, sweetness, and also the vulnerability that defines those who perceive life’s nuances more deeply. The music flows like a gentle sway, reflecting the beauty and complexity of this sensitivity, one that sometimes hurts but also illuminates. I hope that Highly Sensitive Persons, when listening to it, can feel understood, accompanied, and, above all, find in it a refuge where sensitivity is a gift and not a burden."

There are several different techniques for felting a piano, and some methods allow the sounds of the inner workings of the piano to become part of the music while others just have a softer, more delicate sound. This recording is somewhere in the middle. You can hear some of the piano action's sounds, but not to the degree that they are distracting or detract from the beauty of the music. Played with a light, delicate touch, I think has David's tribute has succeeded very well in illustrating what some of the thoughts and emotions of Highly Sensitive People feel like.

"The Beauty of Sensitivity (HSP)" is available to stream and download from Amazon and Apple Music/iTunes as well as on many streaming sites including Spotify and Pandora. Highly recommended!
