Review by Kathy Parsons
"The Bittersweet" is the second single from David Lanz's upcoming solo piano album, Valentine Hill, which will be released on February 14, 2024. Although this poignant piece doesn't sound like any of his previous piano solos, I think I'd know without looking that this is Lanz. Smooth, melodic and from the heart, it harkens back to some of David's signature pieces: "Return to the Heart," "Dreamer's Waltz," "The Visitor" and so many others that earned him a spot as one of the most beloved contemporary pianist/composers around. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

"The Bittersweet" is available to download or stream from Amazon and Apple Music/iTunes as well as all of the other streaming platforms. Both thumbs up! Sheet music for the piece is also available from SheetMusicDirect.com and is reviewed here on MainlyPiano.com. There is also a beautiful YouTube video for the piece that gives the music even more meaning.
