Review by Kathy Parsons
"The Bittersweet" is the sheet music for the second single released from David Lanz's upcoming (2/14/2024) solo piano album called Valentine Hill. Like its predecessor, "Winter Sonata," "The Bittersweet" is very recognizably a David Lanz piece with its poignant melody and expressive playing style (think along the lines of "Return to the Heart" and "The Visitor"). One of my favorite pianist/composers for going on forty years, David Lanz's sheet music was a staple in my teaching material for piano students of all ages for most of my 40-years as a piano teacher. The emotional content and expressive nature of the music are relatable to almost any age group, and the music is such a pleasure to play!

"The Bittersweet" is in the key of G minor (2 flats) and is four pages long. There are some octaves, but no reaches of more than an octave. I proof-read the sheet music, so I can safely say that it is an exact match (with room for your own emotional expression) to the recording. New solo piano music from David Lanz is always a treat, and this one is no exception! It is available to download from SheetMusicDirect.com and SheetMusicPlus.com. Very highly recommended!
