My Way (single)
Review by Kathy Parsons
"My Way" is a beautiful solo acoustic guitar single from Egyptian classical guitar master Emad Hamdy. The single will be included in Hamdy's forthcoming album, The Romantic Guitar Of Emad Hamdy. "My Way" was popularized in 1969 by Frank Sinatra and has become a standard. The song was set to the music for "Comme d'habitude," which was composed by French songwriters Claude François and Jacques Revaux. Paul Anka wrote the English lyrics which are unrelated to the original French song. Hamby's arrangement is soulful with just enough poignant emotion to touch the heart.
Emad Hamdy is the main professor and concert master at Cairo Opera House and the American University in Cairo. He has won numerous international awards, titles and honors, and was named the #1 musician in Egypt and the Middle East by the Yamaha Corporation in Japan; he is the region's Yamaha representative. Hamdy is the first guitarist in Egypt to play a guitar concerto with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra in 1988, and continues to do so. He is also the founder of the most important guitar schools in Egypt.
The "My Way" single is currently available as a YouTube video. More links will be added as they become available.
