Review by Kathy Parsons
"Romance de Amour" is a solo acoustic guitar single by Egyptian classical guitar master Emad Hamdy. The piece is from Hamdy's upcoming album, The Romantic Guitar Of Emad Hamdy and is already winning awards. The most recent award is from the 2021 Roshani International Short Film Festival. The original composer of the piece is uncertain, but it is thought to be a Spanish or South American guitar solo from the 19th century. It is known by a variety of titles, but is definitely a popular guitar classic. Hamdy's arrangement isn't flashy, but comes from the heart with tenderness and sweet emotion.
Emad Hamdy is the main professor and concert master at Cairo Opera House and the American University in Cairo. He has won numerous international awards, titles and honors, and was named the #1 musician in Egypt and the Middle East by the Yamaha Corporation in Japan; he is the region's Yamaha representative. Hamdy is the first guitarist in Egypt to play a guitar concerto with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra in 1988, and continues to do so. He is also the founder of the most important guitar schools in Egypt.
