Somewhere In Time, Vol. 1 is a nine-track solo electric guitar EP by Serbian guitarist Igor Lisul. He calls the music “ambient,” but I find much of Igor’s music to be quite melodic. A self-taught left-handed guitarist, Igor plays with the normal string order reversed. He has released a very impressive number of albums, EPs and singles since he released his first album, Pages of Our Lives, in 2020. He has also published an e-book, Guitar Ballads, as well as his first guitar soloing course, School of Rock, as both an e-book and a paperback. Quoting Igor’s website: “His guitar sings about love, peace, soul, friendship, nature and other beautiful things that heart can feel, imagine and see.”
Somewhere In Time, Vol. 1 begins with “A Better World,” a warm and very peaceful piece with a strong melody and gentle demeanor - a lovely start! “Calm River” is a little bit of musical heaven. Very open and serene, it feels much like sitting on the shore of a river that moves slowly and has sunlight dancing on its surface. “Happy Birthday, Maron” was composed in honor of a friend’s turtle turning a year old this past summer. Very warm and light-hearted, it’s a very sweet piece and I hope Maron appreciates it! “Reverie” is a soothing and very peaceful daydream set to music and is one of the more ambient pieces on the album. “Some Other Time” is also very relaxed and dreamy, with a strong but soothing melody - I really like this one! “Sudden Discovery” expresses feelings of excitement and enthusiasm as it celebrates an “aha!” moment. I really like “Easy Notes,” too, with its gentle, heartfelt melody and relaxed tempo. Taking walks alone can be a chance to tune into your own thoughts, focus on ideas and events that are happening, and just enjoy a bit of solitude. “Walking Alone” expresses all of that very well and from a personal perspective - another favorite! The album comes to a close with “Never Give Up,” a piece that offers encouragement and support - and who couldn’t use a little (or a lot!) more of that? It’s a lovely ending for a really nice album!
Somewhere In Time, Vol. 1 is available to stream or download from Amazon and Apple Music/iTunes as well as on many streaming services including Spotify and Pandora.
