Review by Kathy Parsons
"Bleecker Street" is Pete Calandra's homage to the music scene on that street in the late 1970s and 1980s. Recorded as Pete Calandra and Straight Up, the single features Pete on piano, keyboards and guitars along with Antonio Hart on soprano sax, Tom Barney on electric bass, and Eric Valentine on drums. Pete also composed the piece, created the artwork for the single, filmed the video, and shot and edited all images for the video - an artist who can - and DOES! - do it all.

For a little background, Bleecker Street is an east–west street in the New York City borough of Manhattan. It begins in the heart of the West Village, runs through Greenwich Village, and is bordered by the Bowery in the east (in NoHo). The street has been both residential and commercial over the years and was once home to some of the most famous entertainers in New York.

The single is smooth and relaxed with a strong groove that makes it impossible to sit still. I know that's a bit of a dichotomy, but it really works! Pete's effortless virtuosity on the keys is beyond impressive, and his back-up musicians are amazing while making it look so easy! Great stuff!!! Be sure to watch the video, too!

"Bleecker Street" is available from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes and streaming sites including Spotify.
