Review by Kathy Parsons
"Silent Kisses" is a great new jazz single from Pete Calandra and Straight Up. Very smooth and easy-going yet upbeat and joyful, the single was composed and produced by Pete and features him on piano and keyboards. Straight Up is comprised of Tom Barney on bass, Eric Valentine on drums, Bob Magnuson on saxes and alto flute, and Ricky Martinez on congas; the single was mixed by Ken Freeman. The piece begins with a short, silky-smooth piano solo before the ensemble and keyboards join in with a gentle, catchy rhythm. Pete and Bob Magnuson take turns with the lead and both demonstrate some really impressive chops and musicianship. By the mid-point of the piece, the group really has a groove going, very gradually winding down to the end. This is one of my favorite Pete Calandra and Straight Up singles and I highly recommend it.

"Silent Kisses" is available on Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes and many streaming platforms including Pandora and Spotify. Don't miss it!
