Review by Kathy Parsons
"Same As It Ever Was" is part of a series of jazz singles from Pete Calandra and Straight Up. Straight Up was the name of a band Pete was in one summer between semesters of undergraduate school. The band played mostly Contemporary Jazz and Reggae, and the music Pete is creating for this project is an updated version of those styles. The different name is to keep Pete's jazz music separate from his new age/ ambient/ film score music, and his "Straight Up" music is exciting, upbeat and fun! Piano, electric guitar, flute (Dave Weiss), keyboards, bass, drums and percussion combine to create a euphoric, swirling ode to joy that will have you grooving from the first note to the last.

"Same As It Ever Was" is available digitally from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes and streaming sites such as Spotify. A detailed video of how this recording was made is also available on YouTube. Very highly recommended!
