Review by Kathy Parsons
"September in Rio" is the first single of the year from Pete Calandra and Straight Up and what a smooth jazz gem it is! Pete composed the music and plays electric piano along with impressive performances by Antonio Hart (alto sax), Tim Barney (bass guitar), Eric Valentine (drums), Ricky Martinez (percussion), and Dave Weiss (flutes). All of the musicians have an opportunity to shine on this piece, but it's Antonio Hart and his sax who takes the lead for much of this lively yet laid-back single. The tropical rhythms are energizing while the sax, flutes and electric piano are in an easy yet intoxicating groove. Great stuff!

"September in Rio" will be released on January 17, 2025 and is available for pre-orders now on Amazon. More links will be added as they become available.
