Review by Kathy Parsons
"The Cat's Eye" single by Pete Calandra and Straight Up is a reworking of one of the tracks from Pete's 2017 album, The Road Home. Remixed from the original track, where Pete played all of the instruments, this one features Antonio Hart on soprano sax, Eric Valentine on drums, and Ricky Martinez on percussion in addition to Pete on piano, acoustic guitars, synthesizers and synth bass; Pete also composed the piece. Antonio Hart's sax brings a new vibrance and spirit to the music, and balances beautifully with Pete's always-soulful piano. As usual with Pete Calandra's music, it's impossible to put this piece into one specific genre or category (something I really appreciate!), but it leans more towards jazz with its fresh, spontaneous feeling and the energy of the musicians.

"The Cat's Eye" is available from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes and streaming sites including Spotify and Pandora. Highly recommended!
