"A Box of Candles" is the fourth single from Peter Calandra's upcoming solo piano album due out in March 2024. All four of the singles so far have been truly exceptional, and I'm really anxious to hear the full album! As its title might suggest, "A Box of Candles" feels and sounds very much like the soft, soothing glow of candlelight and the hypnotic spell it can cast if you stare at it for a little while. I thought at first that maybe Peter had "felted" at least the bass half of his piano for this piece, but I think it's just his touch on the bass keys that is velvety smooth without any "help" from a strip of cloth. A true artist in every sense of the word, Peter keeps this one simple and uncluttered, but what a beautifully relaxing piece it is!
